Brad Sherman Town Hall | The Valley & West L.A. Support President Biden’s Approach on Israel

Congressman Sherman's 7th Town Hall of 2023
Sherman Oaks, California – Last night, over 3,000 people joined Congressman Brad Sherman's (CA-32) Telephone Town Hall - Sherman's seventh Town Hall of 2023.
"Although many issues were discussed, last night's Town Hall made one thing abundantly clear: how firmly the San Fernando Valley and the Westside of Los Angeles stand behind President Biden's handling of the complicated crisis in the Middle East," said Congressman Sherman. "I'm grateful to the thousands who consistently join my Telephone Town Halls in order to stay informed during such a crucial period in our country's history."
Congressman Sherman opened the event with status updates on the numerous, critical issues facing Congress – a new, extreme Conservative Republican House Speaker, how House Democrats helped avert a second Republican government shutdown, the on-going war between Israel and Hamas terrorists, efforts to lower inflation and much more.
The Congressman also described the ordeal he faced on the previous evening when Sherman and his Congressional colleagues were evacuated from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters in Washington, D.C. after demonstrators, demanding a ceasefire in the Gaza war, grew violent outside of the building and ended up injuring six Capitol Police officers. Sherman depicted how he and his colleagues evaded serious harm and expressed his gratitude towards the Capitol Police for leading them to safety.
The ongoing war in Gaza was a prevalent concern among the thousands who called in to the event. Some who wanted to know Congressman Sherman's position on a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas heard Sherman explain how a true ceasefire could only be achieved after Hamas terrorists release all the hostages, fully disarm and completely surrender. However, a majority of the callers were sympathetic towards Israel's fight against Hamas terrorists, thankful for President Biden's leadership in managing the crisis and curious as to how Congressman Sherman could help continue the U.S. support for Israel through his role as a senior Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Constituents also posed questions on national matters, namely on how Sherman and his Democratic colleagues were going to deal with the new Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson and his radical Republican agenda against women's healthcare rights, the LGBTQ + community, gun safety, consumer protection and the environment.
In addition to national and global issues, Congressman Sherman fielded questions and provided updates on several local matters such as his continuing efforts to improve transportation between the San Fernando Valley and the Westside of Los Angeles through the Sepulveda Pass, assist our veterans, secure federal funds for numerous local environmental and infrastructure improvement projects and much more.
Sherman concluded his seventh Town Hall of the year by thanking the thousands of constituents who joined and "for demonstrating that people in our area are interested in what's going on in our country".
During the Telephone Town Hall, Sherman requested input from residents by asking a series of survey questions about their thoughts on the many serious issues facing our nation.
The results of some of the survey questions are as follows:
-Do you approve of President Biden's performance as President so far?
