Congressman Brad Sherman Recaps Achievements, Previews Work Ahead in Eighth & Final Town Hall of 2022

November 18, 2022

Sherman Oaks, CA – Last night, over 4,000 Valley residents joinedCongressman Brad Sherman's (D-Sherman Oaks)eighth and final Telephone Town Hall of 2022 to learn more on the momentous issues we have faced and express their views on the work that lies ahead for our country.

"As we close the chapter on the 117th session of Congress that produced historic legislative accomplishments, it's vital for me to hear what my constituents believe should be prioritized in the next session of Congress," said Congressman Sherman. "Last night's town hall allowed me to instantly connect and engage with thousands of Valley residents, helping me to better understand how I can effectively champion our community's values in Washington."

Congressman Sherman recapped the series of significant legislation recently achieved, such as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, a once-in-a-generation investment in our nation's infrastructure, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first significant step Congress has taken to combat gun violence in decades, and the Inflation Reduction Act, the most aggressive action undertaken to combat the climate crisis and reduce the costs of inflation, energy, high prescription drug prices and our deficits.

As we prepare to enter the upcoming year with a newly elected Congress, Sherman's event provided a chance for everyone on the line to listen to what others in our community believe is critical to our country's future success. Congressman Sherman fielded questions on efforts to address local infrastructure needs, bolster our economy, protect our democracy, preserve our environment and on other issues at the forefront of the minds of Valley residents.

During the Telephone Town Hall, Sherman requested input from Valley residents by asking a series of survey questions about their thoughts on the many serious issues facing our nation. The results of some of the survey questions are as follows:

-Do you approve of President Biden's performance as President so far?

  • Approve: 68%
  • Disapprove: 19%
  • Unsure: 13%

-If it was harder for people to legally obtain guns, do you believe in the U.S. there would be:

  • Fewer Mass Shootings: 70%
  • No Difference: 16%
  • More Mass Shootings: 7%
