Congressman Sherman Updates Over 4,000 in Eighth and Final Town Hall of the Year

Sherman Oaks, California – Last night, over 4,000 people joined Congressman Brad Sherman's (CA-32) Telephone Town Hall - Sherman's eighth and final Town Hall of 2023.
"I'm grateful to the over 4,000 residents who joined our Town Hall last night," said Congressman Sherman. "It was productive review of all that we have faced this past year, and an engaging discussion on all the work and challenges that lie ahead in the upcoming new year."
Congressman Sherman began by describing the stalemate in Congress to provide emergency aid to Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan due to Republican demands to address our country's immigration policy. Sherman explained his support for comprehensive immigration reform while warning of the consequences our Ukrainian, Israeli and Taiwanese allies face if Congress fails to reach an agreement soon.
After Sherman and his House Democratic colleagues helped avert two efforts by Republicans to shut down the government this past year, Congressman Sherman alerted callers to the possibility of another looming shutdown threat in January as House Republicans continue to stall on approaches to adequately fund the government.
As a senior Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Congressman Sherman also touched upon the challenges the United States faces abroad. Sherman provided an update on U.S. efforts to assist Israel in its ongoing fight against Hamas terrorists and specified how a lasting, meaningful peace in the region could be achieved. The Congressman also spoke on the importance of continuing to provide aid to Ukraine and described the consequences if U.S. assistance ended.
Congressman Sherman was joined by California State Senator Henry Stern as the Town Hall's special guest. "It's always an honor to be on one of your Town Halls and your unfettered access to your constituents, and your sober take on world affairs is refreshing," said Senator Stern in his opening remarks. The State Senator began his remarks by discussing his recent trip to the Middle East and directly witnessing the importance of U.S. leadership in the region. Senator Stern also spoke on his recent mission leading the California State delegation at the U.N. Climate Conference as part of the Senator's overall efforts to protect our environment. Senator Stern concluded his remarks by informing callers of the assistance his constituent services team stands ready to provide.
