Over 3,000 Join Congressman Sherman’s 3rd Town Hall of the Year
Sherman Oaks, California – Last night, over 3,000 residents joined Congressman Brad Sherman’s (CA-32) third Telephone Town Hall of 2024 to hear updates and voice their thoughts on a range of issues facing Congress and the United States.
“I’m grateful to all those who joined our Town Hall last night and helped make it yet another informative and productive discussion,” said Congressman Sherman. “Keeping my constituents informed has always been a top priority for me, especially during such a consequential period in our nation’s history. That’s why I continue to host Telephone Town Halls as they help instantly connect with thousands, allowing me to hear what’s on their minds so that I can reflect our community’s values in Congress.”
Congressman Sherman started the Town Hall by summarizing his efforts in Washington over the last couple of months – helping to prevent House Republicans from (once again) shutting down the government, attending President Biden’s State of the Union Address with the mother of a freed Israeli hostage as his special guest, securing over $16 million in federal funds for numerous community improvement projects and more.
Congressman Sherman also provided updates on his work as a senior Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He addressed several urgent foreign policy matters, including the Biden administration’s handling of the on-going crisis in the Middle East, and that status of security assistance to our allies in Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.
Constituents who joined the event posed questions on a vast array of issues. Some expressed concern over the prospect of former President Donald Trump’s return to the White House, while others were outraged over the continuing assault on reproductive freedoms across the country. Several residents presented more detailed questions, such as on efforts to provide assistance to our veterans, the rapid ascent of artificial intelligence, combating the alarming rise of antisemitism, and much more.
Congressman Sherman was joined by special guest Los Angeles Councilmember Bob Blumenfield who spoke on his work representing the San Fernando Valley in City Hall. Councilmember Blumenfield provided updates on his recent economic development initiatives, including his signature “Reseda Rising” program – a multi-front initiative to find, direct and coordinate over $100 million worth of transformative investment in the community. The Councilmember also discussed his efforts to tackle the City’s budget issues, address housing availability and his work to help solve homelessness.
During the Telephone Town Hall, Sherman requested input from residents by asking a series of survey questions about their thoughts on the issues currently facing our nation. The results of the survey questions are as follows:
