Sherman Updates Over 4,000 in 4th Town Hall of 2023


SHERMAN OAKS, CALIFORNIA – Last night, Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32)held hisfourth Telephone Town Hall of 2023and hosted over 4,000 residents who tuned in to hear updates and voice their thoughts on the latest issues facing the country.
"I was pleased to hear from so many residents who helped make last night's Town Hall yet another productive and informative event," said Congressman Sherman. "I've held over 250 Town Halls over the years, and I'm always impressed by the passion, knowledge and energetic curiosity exhibited by so many constituents who continue to join each one of our events."
Following the conclusion of the latest debt ceiling crisis, Sherman opened with a summary of the deal that was reached in June, while also explaining the steps he and his Democratic colleagues are taking to avert future debt ceiling standoffs and potential financial harms to the national and global economy. The Congressman also reported on the federal funds he is securing for a variety of community projects, the recent progress made and the work that remains to combat airport noise, guidance on passport issues, and legislation Sherman is working on that address our economy, banking system, infrastructure, environment and more.
In addition to local and national issues, Sherman provided updates on his work as a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The Congressman took residents behind the scenes of his experience as part of the official Congressional Escort Committee for Israeli President Isaac Herzog's historic address to a Joint Session of Congress. Sherman also spoke on the latest developments of the U.S. efforts to continue assisting Ukraine against an unrelenting Russian army.
Congressman Sherman was joined by State Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin of California's 42nd assembly district. Representing a vibrant region that includes East Ventura County, Calabasas, Malibu, and communities in West Los Angeles, Assemblymember Irwin spoke on her policy priorities in the State Capitol on behalf of her district. From expanding the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, to championing measures that protect consumers and their families, Assemblymember Irwin provided a detailed synopsis of her recent work to address the issues affecting her community. The Assemblymember concluded her remarks by informing listeners of the constituent services her office stands ready to provide for those in need of assistance.
During the Telephone Town Hall, Sherman requested input from residents by asking a series of survey questions about their thoughts on the many critical issues facing our nation. The results of the survey questions are as follows:

2) Los Angeles will host the Olympics in 2028. Back when we hosted the Olympics in 1984, there was substantial valley opposition to having any of the events take place in Sepulveda Basin. There is discussion of hosting archery or perhaps cricket or other sports in the Sepulveda Basin. Do you support having Olympic competition in the San Fernando Valley?
