Congressman Brad Sherman Named as Member of House-Knesset Parliamentary Friendship Group

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32), senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Co-Chair of the Congressional Israel Allies Caucus, has been officially selected by the U.S. House of Representatives to serve as a member of the House-Knesset Parliamentary Friendship Group. This newly formed, bipartisan group will be responsible for increasing cooperation and strengthening relations between the United States and Israel. Sherman will be the group's number two ranking Democrat.

"I'm honored to be a part of this exciting new chapter in the U.S.-Israel relationship," said Congressman Sherman. "For over 26 years, I've worked to support American friendship and increased cooperation with Israel. In particular I've worked to strengthen ties between Israel and America in the Democratic party, and I'm pleased to be one of five Democrats on the parliamentary group."

Parliamentary friendship groups are tasked with helping ally nation's parliaments increase cooperation and promote friendly relations between nations and their elected representatives. The House-Knesset Parliamentary Friendship Group will work towards this initiative through engagement with Israel's Knesset and hosting Knesset members who visit the United States – with the underlying goal to seek solutions that benefit both nations while faithfully representing the people of both countries.

Members of the House-Knesset Parliamentary Friendship Group include: Chairman David Kustoff (R-TN), Brad Sherman (D-CA), Ann Wagner (R-MO), Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), Anthony D'Esposito (R-NY), John James (R-MI), Mike Lawler (R-NY), Max Miller (R-OH), Dean Phillips (D-MN), Kathy Manning (D-NC), Ritchie Torres (D-NY), and Nikema Williams (D-GA).
