Congressman Brad Sherman Remembers Monterey Park Shooting Victims One Year Later

January 22, 2024

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - In the one-year anniversary of the Monterey Park mass shooting on January 21st, Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32) issued a statement remembering the survivors and victims and emphasizing the urgency for measures to curtail the scourge of gun violence that continues to plague communities across the country.

"One year ago today, a gunman claimed the lives of 11 innocent people during Lunar New Year celebrations in Monterey Park - the worst instance of gun violence in Los Angeles County's history. We remember the victims, mourn with their loved ones and remain committed to End Gun Violence."

Last January, two predominantly Asian American communities in California experienced tragedies in a span of a few days. At a celebration for Lunar New Year on Jan. 21, 2023, a gunman entered a ballroom in Monterey Park, California, and opened fire, killing 11 people, including himself.
