Congressman Brad Sherman Secures Over $1 Million in Federal Funds to Support Jewish Community Safety

The federal funds will support the Jewish Federation Los Angeles (JFEDLA) Community Security Initiative across 40,000 square miles in Southern California
SHERMAN OAKS, CA — On May 5th, Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32) joined Jewish Federation Los Angeles (JFEDLA) for a press conference to announce over $1 million in federal funds Congressman Sherman secured to support JFEDLA’s Community Security Initiative (CSI), which protects Jewish institutions across 40,000 square miles in Southern California.
“At a time when antisemitism is rising in Los Angeles, across our country, and around the world, protecting Jewish families, students, houses of worship, and community institutions isn’t optional — it’s essential,” Congressman Sherman said. “That is why I was proud to secure more than $1 million in federal funding for Jewish Federation Los Angeles’ Community Security Initiative, which has played a vital role in keeping our community safe through threat monitoring, training, and close coordination with law enforcement. I will continue fighting to ensure the Jewish community has the resources it needs to live openly, proudly, and safely.”
"JFEDLA is extremely grateful for Congressman Sherman’s unwavering support of the Jewish community,” JFEDLA President & CEO Rabbi Noah Farkas said. “For more than a decade, our CSI program has worked with determination to proactively identify threats, conduct security trainings, and address physical risks associated with hundreds of Jewish institutions. This funding ensures CSI can not only continue protecting our community, but will also help improve CSI’s capabilities during this persistent threat environment. As we approach LA28, Congressman Sherman’s foresight will undoubtedly help keep the entire Los Angeles community safe.”
The JFEDLA Community Security Initiative (CSI) works to protect Jewish community members across 40,000 square miles by monitoring threats, partnering with local law enforcement, providing emergency communications and critical resources to combat harassment and violence against the Jewish community, and organizing security services and trainings.
"JFEDLA thanks Congressman Sherman for requesting this additional federal funding to address the surge in antisemitic incidents targeting Jews in Los Angeles and for his long-standing commitment to Jewish community security. This latest grant builds on a strong track record of leadership in this vital area."
