Congressman Sherman Hosts 2nd Telephone Town Hall of 2022

Sherman Oaks, CA – Last night, nearly 7,000Valley residents participated in Congressman Brad Sherman's (D-Sherman Oaks) live "Telephone Town Hall" where the Congressman updated Valley residents on the many critical issues facing Congress.

"I've hosted over 200 Town Halls over the years, and they've always been an essential part of my regular outreach to Valley residents," said Congressman Sherman. "As we work to navigate through a variety of critical issues, from ending the pandemic to rebuilding our economy to protecting voting rights, Telephone Town Halls allow me to effectively and safely interact with thousands of Valley residents while keeping them informed during this critical time for our country."

Thousands of Valley residents joined the event to voice their thoughts on multiple issues including the state of the economy, efforts to protect voting rights, the status of the January 6th House Select Committee's investigation, efforts to defeat COVID-19 and more. Congressman Sherman detailed his efforts in Congress to address the concerns expressed during the Town Hall and provided updates on his work to deliver for working families and Valley residents.

California State Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel joined the event and provided information on his office's efforts to address the local impacts of COVID-19 and the support his constituent services program has provided on such issues as mortgage relief, unemployment issues and assistance with California's Employment Development Department. Assemblymember Gabriel also updated Valley residents on the legislation that was passed yesterday that extends COVID-19 paid sick leave for California workers.

Dr. Lynn Goldman, member of the National Academy of Medicine, advisor to the CDC and frequent Town Hall guest joined the Congressman once again to address questions and concerns on COVID-19. Dr. Goldman provided guidance on the necessity and efficacy of COVID booster shots, recently issued public health guidelines and best practices for Valley residents to stay safe as we work to finally end this unprecedented global pandemic.

During the Telephone Town Hall, Sherman requested input from Valley residents by asking a series of survey questions about their thoughts on the many critical issues facing our nation. The results of the survey questions are as follows:


  1. Whose job performance was better as President of the United States?
  • Joe Biden: 74%
  • Donald Trump: 17%
  • Roughly Equal: 4%
  • Unsure: 5%

  1. Do you support the Senate abolishing the filibuster in order to pass progressive legislation such as laws protecting elections and voting rights, protecting the planet from climate change, and immigration reform?
  • Yes: 69%
  • No: 21%
  • Unsure: 10%

  1. What are your views on requirements to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination in order to do certain things like eat at a restaurant, travel by plane, or attend a sporting event or concert?
  • Support: 77%
  • Oppose: 17%
  • Unsure: 6%
