Congressman Sherman’s Statement on Recent Treasury Actions Against Supporters of Hamas
Los Angeles, California – Today, Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32), senior Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, House Financial Services Committee, and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, released the following statement to applaud the Department of Treasury for recent actions targeting prominent international supporters of Hamas including crypto firms:
“I commend the Department of Treasury for taking action against those that provide material support to Hamas including crypto firms that have funneled millions of dollars to terrorist organizations.
Cryptocurrency directly translates to ‘hidden money,’ and it comes as no surprise that crypto is used to cheat on taxes, evade our sanctions, and now to finance horrific attacks of terror like those we saw a year ago on October 7. Crypto is the future, but only for terror financing and other illicit uses.”
