Sherman Attends Meetings Regarding Azerbaijan's Latest Acts of Aggression Against Armenia
Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA), senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Congressional Armenia Caucus, attended a series of meetings in Washington D.C. with Armenian leaders in light of the recent outrageous attacks on Armenia's sovereignty by the Aliyev regime.
"We discussed Armenia's current security needs, details of the horrific war crimes committed by the Aliyev regime, and what additional steps are necessary to support the Armenian people as they face renewed acts of aggression from Azerbaijan," said Congressman Sherman.
Sherman joined Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Congressman Frank Pallone, Congresswoman Jackie Speier, and other colleagues from the Congressional Armenia Caucus for an extensive conversation with President Pashinyan's Special Advisor, Yeghisheh Kirakosyan, and other Armenian dignitaries. "We spoke extensively about Azerbaijan's attacks on Artsakh and on peaceful towns within Armenia's internationally recognized borders, as well as documented human rights abuses committed by Azerbaijan's forces," said Sherman upon the meeting's conclusion.

Congressman Sherman then hosted his colleagues, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo and Congresswoman Jackie Speier, in meeting with the Foreign Minister of Artsakh, Davit Babayan, Representative of Artsakh to the United States, Robert Avetisyan, Artsakh Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Lernik Hovhannisyan, and representatives from the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).
Sherman concluded the marathon of meetings by stating: "This is a painful moment for the Armenian American community, many of whom I am proud to represent in the San Fernando Valley. However, I am confident in the resilience of the Armenian people, and I am confident in the strength of the movement for an enduring U.S.-Armenia relationship here on Capitol Hill. The Armenian American community and its allies did not give up the fight to recognize the Armenian Genocide – and though it may have taken longer than anyone had hoped, we fought and we won. We will continue the fight for an end to attacks against Armenia's sovereignty and the Armenian people – and we will win."
