Sherman Condemns Iran's Decision to Execute Protestors

November 17, 2022

Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA), second ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, strongly condemned an Iranian court's first death sentence linked to recent protests, convicting the unnamed person of "enmity against God" and "spreading corruption on Earth," state media reports. This decision follows weeks of nationwide demonstrations, sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini in September.

"Outraged over Iran's decision to execute potentially thousands of protestors including lawyers, journalists, activists, women and children," said Congressman Sherman. "The voice of the Iranian people won't be silenced as they continue their valiant and historic fight for fundamental rights."
