Sherman Presents Fire Safety Grant: Undergrounding High Voltage Electric Lines

Hidden Hills, California – Today Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32) presented a Federal Grant of $1,383,069 to the City of Hidden Hills to support the undergrounding of high-voltage power lines in wildfire-prone areas. This initiative aims to enhance fire prevention efforts.
“Wildfires continue to threaten our communities, and we must take proactive measures to prevent them,” said Congressman Sherman. “This grant will provide critical funding to ensure that high-voltage power lines, which have been a known fire hazard, are placed underground, eliminating the risk of ignition and protecting lives and property.”
By burying high-voltage transmission lines, the initiative will not only prevent fire outbreaks but also improve the reliability of the electrical grid, particularly during extreme weather conditions.
Sherman, who has long advocated for stronger fire prevention measures, reaffirmed his commitment to securing additional federal resources to assist in our recovery from the recent devastating wildfires and support affected communities.
