Sherman Statement on World Court's Rejection of Demand for Gaza Cease-Fire
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declined a plea to order Israel to cease military operations in Gaza following Hamas's October 7th terrorist attacks. Shortly after news of this decision, Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32), senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Co-Chair of the House Israel Allies Caucus, issued the following statement:
"Despite the United Nations' pervasive anti-Israel bias, the ICJ rejected the goal of South Africa's absurd case against Israel: to deny Israel's right to self defense by calling for a unilateral ceasefire," said Congressman Sherman. "Genocide accusations against Israel are a vile perversion of the memory of real genocides."
Sherman concluded: "We need an immediate ceasefire - after Hamas leaves Gaza and releases all the hostages."
