Sherman Statement on the University of California Academic Workers Strike
Sherman Oaks, California -- This week, about 48,000 unionized academic workers across the University of California's 10 campuses — teaching assistants, postdoctoral scholars, graduate student researchers, tutors and fellows across the UC system— walked off the job, calling for better pay and benefits.
In the nation's largest strike of the year, Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) stressed: "University of California academic workers deserve compensation and working conditions reflective of their contributions to the UC system. I encourage the UC to bargain in good faith toward an agreement all parties can support."
