Families across the country are worried about high gas prices, skyrocketing health care costs and rising college tuition. They are concerned about the Iraq War, which has been mismanaged, as well as the security of their cities and towns. It has never been clearer that our country needs a new direction.

These popular meetings often attract crowds of several hundred constituents. They are an opportunity for San Fernando Valley residents to hear from Sherman on the Medicare prescription drug program, Social Security, education, and other issues before Congress. The congressman also will take questions from constituents on other federal and community issues.
Beginning next January 1, Medicare will provide optional prescription drug coverage (œPart D) for Medicare beneficiaries. This voluntary program replaces the current temporary œdrug discount card. You have from November 15, 2005 to May 15, 2006 to decide whether to join the new prescription drug program.

The Bush administration continues its efforts to persuade Americans to support its plan to partially privatize Social Security. The president has spoken frequently about the "crisis" facing Social Security some 50 years from now. Yet, he refuses to address the two most troubling aspects of his plan that would present real problems long before 2052 -- benefit cuts and massive borrowing.
Sherman Oaks, CA. - Today, Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) hosted a Town Hall Meeting on Social Security with special guest, Max Richtman, Executive Vice President of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM).
Over 450 people attended the community meeting at the ONEgeneration Center in Reseda, where Sherman and Richtman spoke about the current and future health of Social Security.
