[Washington, D.C.] " Since going to Congress in 1996, Congressman Brad Sherman has fought to keep tobacco out of the hands of kids.

This session he co-sponsored the FDA Tobacco Jurisdiction Act of 2001 (HR 1043), and the FDA Tobacco Authority Amendments Act (HR 1097). Both proposals would permit the Food and Drug Administration to regulate tobacco products as drugs.

[Washington, D.C.] " The House of Representatives today unanimously passed legislation cosponsored by Congressmen Elton Gallegly and Brad Sherman, which would expand the boundaries of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (SMMNRA) to include vital open space areas currently outside of the Parks boundaries.

[Washington, D.C.] " Congressman Brad Sherman today announced the first tally of responses to the Congressional Issues Questionnaire he circulated earlier in the year. Over 3,000 Valley residents filled out the questionnaire through the mail, on Shermans website, or at one of his Town Hall Meetings. This is not a complete or comprehensive analysis, but it points to some definite trends in Valley views.

[Washington, D.C.] " Congressman Brad Sherman today announced the passage of the Interior Appropriations bill by the House of Representatives for 2003, which included $2.5 Million for land acquisition in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

These funds are needed to protect crucial lands from development. The amount approved by the House is more than twice the $1 million Congress appropriated for 2002 for the Santa Monica Mountains.
