WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressmen Brad Sherman (D-CA) and Michael Conaway (R-TX) announced the creation of the Bipartisan Congressional CPA Caucus. Congressman Sherman and Congressman Michael Conaway (R-TX) will act as co-chairs.
It is practically a Washington parlor game each year to guess which member of the President’s Cabinet has been whisked away to a secure and undisclosed location during the State of the Union address.
Of course, the Secretary’s absence is a precaution meant to preserve the line of presidential succession if a catastrophic event decapitated the entire assembled federal government. However, there remain serious flaws with the line of presidential succession as it currently exists.

Those Who Advocate Violence Should Be Repudiated
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Sherman issued the following statement about the need to tone down political rhetoric in the wake of the tragedy in Tucson.
“When you have a heart attack, it’s time to stop smoking. It’s not necessary to wait for proof that tar and nicotine caused that particular heart attack.
Each day thousands of commuters hop into their cars, pull out of their driveways, and motor down the San Fernando Valley's roads and highways only to find that they are stuck in a perpetual parking lot. Traffic is no longer confined to the morning or evening peak hours; it has become a round-the-clock phenomenon.

[Washington, DC] – Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA), who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade issued the following statement concerning the proposed U.S. – South Korea Trade Pact:
"It's all well and good to increase exports, but not if we increase imports by an even larger amount. Every trade pact increases American employment in some industries, and costs jobs in other industries."

Our celebration of Veterans Day last month was a reminder of the special debt that we owe to those in our community who have served in uniform.
Our military pledges to “leave no soldier behind” on the battlefield. In Congress, we must “leave no veteran behind” when they return home from service. Our veterans deserve additional assistance re-integrating into the workforce when they return from active duty, and I want to do everything I can to keep our promises to veterans.
