Among other things, the bill calls for serious, urgent diplomatic engagement in pursuit of a binding peace agreement constituting a formal end to the Korean War.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), reintroduced the Peace and Tolerance in Palestinian Education Act to require the Secretary of State to submit a report to Congress reviewing textbooks produced by the Palestinian Authority (PA). There are concerns that such textbooks include language and imagery that encourage violence and hatred toward other nations and ethnic groups. Such content is particularly concerning given the use of such materials in educational settings for children as young as primary school age.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Senate unanimously passed the Hong Kong Autonomy Act (H.R. 7440), introduced by Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), who formerly chaired the Asia Subcommittee, along with the Ranking Member of the Asia Subcommittee Ted Yoho (R- FL). This was the House version of legislation first introduced by Senators Toomey and Van Hollen, to require the imposition of sanctions on foreign individuals and banks that participate in China's oppression of Hong Kong.
