Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32) released the following statement to mark the fourth anniversary of the January 6th, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol:

“Today marks four years since the horrific attack on our U.S. Capitol — a day that shook the foundations of our democracy. On January 6th, 2021, our nation witnessed an unprecedented assault on the very heart of our democratic process as insurrectionists sought to overturn the results of a free and fair election through violence and intimidation.

Washington, DC – On December 29th, Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32) issued the following statement regarding the passing of President Jimmy Carter: 

"I am saddened over the passing of President Jimmy Carter — a devoted public servant and humanitarian who leaves behind an extraordinary legacy dedicated towards compassion and decency. My heart goes out to the Carter family during this difficult time."

Washington, D.C. -- On December 20th, Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32) issued the following statement after the House passed a funding bill just hours before the current federal funding deadline:

The good news is that the government will not shutdown.

Unless Congress passes a Continuing Resolution, all “non-essential” federal action halts on Saturday at 12:01 AM. 

On Tuesday, Democrats and Republicans had agreed to a Continuing Resolution and all the related details.  We were ready to pass the bill with big bipartisan majorities. The bill would not solve all the nation’s problems – but at least it would keep the government open through March 14, 2025.
