Washington, DC – The House passed Congressman Brad Sherman's amendment that prohibits the transfer of U.S. weapons to Azerbaijan unless the President certifies no threat to civil aviation. The initiative aims to limit Baku's ability to act upon its standing threat to shoot down civilian aircraft operating out of Artsakh's Stepanakert Airport.

Washington, DC – On Thursday July 11, the House Financial Services Committee passed by a unanimous vote, legislation led by Congressman Brad Sherman and Congressman Sean Duffy to make it easier for homebuyers to buy a home with a Federal Housing Administration (FHA) mortgage by addressing the current shortage of certified appraisers. H.R. 2852, the Homebuyer Assistance Act of 2019 would do this by reducing a number of hurdles that appraisers currently face before they are allowed to perform appraisals for home purchases financed by an FHA mortgage.

Washington, DC – Today the House of Representatives passed an amendment, proposed by Congressman Sherman, which blocks the United States from selling nuclear power equipment to Saudi Arabia without strong safeguards to prevent Riyadh from building nuclear weapons. The House adopted the language as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, which is expected to pass the House on Friday.

Washington, DC – In an appearance today before the House Committee on Science, Secretary of Energy Rick Perry agreed to visit the contaminated Santa Susana Field Lab at the request of Congressman Brad Sherman. Secretary Perry acknowledged the slow response and lack of progress in cleaning up the site.

Washington, DC – Congressman Sherman secured significant nonproliferation commitments from Energy Secretary Rick Perry today at a hearing of the House Committee on Science, Technology, and Space.

In response to a question from Congressman Sherman, Secretary Perry said that the United States would not enter into a civilian nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia unless Saudi signs the Additional Protocol.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) formally requested that the Government Accountability Office (GAO) investigate how the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has responded to community noise concerns in major metropolitan areas.

Congressman Sherman worked with Rep. Adam Schiff and Rep. Peter DeFazio, Chairman of the House Transportation Committee, in making the request. Over two dozen Members of Congress have joined the formal request for an independent study.

Facebook still resists efforts to protect the privacy of average Americans from data mining and data sales. But now Facebook has announced a plan for a crypto currency platform which appears to meet the needs of drug dealers, human traffickers, tax evaders, and terrorists.
