Washington, D.C. - Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-32), author of the original Israel visa waiver legislation, welcomes President Biden's announcement that visa-free travel for Israelis to the United States will begin today. The announcement comes after an October 11th letter by Sherman and 23 bipartisan Members of Congress urging the Administration to begin visa-free travel for Israelis immediately.

We do not yet know the full extent of the horrors perpetuated against Israeli civilians by Hamas terrorists, and we will likely learn of further war crimes by Hamas as new information surfaces in the coming hours and days. But what we've already seen are some of the most horrific images imaginable: elderly women slaughtered while waiting at a bus stop; dozens, including children, young women, and the elderly, kidnapped and taken into the Gaza strip; bodies of the dead desecrated and paraded around. The death toll has already reached 200 and is likely to continue to rise.

Washington DC – Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, applauds President Joe Biden's breakthrough announcement that Israel would enter the U.S. Visa Waiver Program. The announcement comes 11 years after Congressman Sherman introduced the original bill to allow Israel's entrance into the U.S. Visa Waiver Program. Sherman's Visa Waiver for Israel Act was originally introduced in May of 2012.
