Today, on the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, President Joe Biden became the first U.S. President to formally recognize the systematic murder of 1.5 million Armenian women, men, and children by the Ottoman Empire from 1915 to 1923, as a genocide.
I commend President Biden's historic announcement today. The President's courageous move has put the United States on the side of historic truth in a most powerful way.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA) applauded the decision by President Biden today to impose new sanctions against Russia, policy which closely parallels legislation advanced by Congressman Sherman and Chairwoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) starting in 2019. This action by the President makes clear that the United States will act firmly and forcefully to hold Russia accountable for its aggression against the United States and other nations.
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) testified today before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, urging them to include additional federal funding in the upcoming Infrastructure bill for a subway through and improvements to the Sepulveda Pass.
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), reintroduced the Peace and Tolerance in Palestinian Education Act to require the Secretary of State to submit a report to Congress reviewing textbooks produced by the Palestinian Authority (PA). There are concerns that such textbooks include language and imagery that encourage violence and hatred toward other nations and ethnic groups. Such content is particularly concerning given the use of such materials in educational settings for children as young as primary school age.

Sherman Oaks – Last night, over 3,800 Valley residents participated in Congressman Brad Sherman's (D-Sherman Oaks) interactive "Telephone Town Hall". During this time, the Congressman updated his constituents on the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, rebuilding the economy, vaccine distribution efforts and other vital issues facing Congress.
Washington, D.C. – Today Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA), senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, introduced the War Powers Act EnforcementAct, which would force compliance with the War Powers Act (also known as the War Powers Resolution).
I believe that it is critical to quickly bring Iran back into compliance with the JCPOA, so that the restrictions, inspections, and safeguards in that agreement are put back in place. We must also work to address Iran's other destructive policies, including its support for international terrorism, its support for mass-murder in Syria, Yemen, and Iraq, and its development of missiles capable of delivering nuclear payloads.
Washington, D.C. – Today the House passed the Protecting the Right to Organize(PRO)Act, which protects workers' right to organize a union and bargain for higher wages and better benefits. Congressman Sherman applauds Chairman of the Education & Labor Committee, Bobby Scott, for including a provision in the PRO Act that eliminates so-called ‘right-to-work' laws nationwide.
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), who Chairs the Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets, and Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) introduced the Access to Credit for Small Businesses Impacted by the COVID–19 Crisis Act of 2021.
Washington, D.C. – The National Transportation Safety Board today issued its report on the tragic helicopter crash that took the life of Kobe and Gianna Bryant and seven others.
That report made two new recommendations. Congressman Sherman today announced that he would amend the Kobe and Gianna Bryant Helicopter Safety Act to mandate that these two new recommendations arising from the investigation, as well as other helicopter safety measures that NTSB has recommended in the past.
The two new provisions that will be added to the bill will:
