Washington, D.C. – Today, the House unanimously passed H.Res.825, urging the United States to continue its leadership in supporting the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and the global nonproliferation regime, introduced by Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), who formerly chaired the Asia and Nonproliferation Subcommittee, along with Congressman Banks, and the Chair and Ranking Member of the Asia Subcommittee Ami Bera (D-CA) and Ted Yoho (R- FL).

Washington, D.C. – Today, October 29, marks the 15th anniversary of the Metro's Orange Line. The Orange Line is an 18-mile bus rapid transit system that runs through the San Fernando Valley from Chatsworth to North Hollywood with a planned eventual conversion to light rail within Metro's masterplan. It has helped residents of the Valley connect to other essential public transportation systems and has helped reduce traffic on the 101 Freeway.

Sherman Oaks, CA – On the fifth anniversary of the Aliso Canyon gas blowout, Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) continues to push for the closure of the Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility and to ensure that SoCal Gas is held responsible for their actions.

"We need a plan to close the Aliso Canyon facility now," Sherman urged. "We cannot wait another 7 to 15 years."

While the Trump administration has acknowledged that the Russian government has interfered in past U.S. elections, and is working to interfere in the current 2020 election, it has taken no meaningful action to punish Russia for this activity.

Today, Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), former Chair of the Asia, Pacific and Nonproliferation Subcommittee, sent a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo requesting answers to a number of questions on the U.S. government's efforts to address Saudi Arabia's partnership with China's civilian nuclear establishment, as well as to prevent Saudi Arabia from conducting activities which could lead to a nuclear weapons capability.
